Mayor Autographs His Charity Bobblehead

According to this town's Daily Herald, their Mayor (George Pradel) is autographing his previously released bobbleheads created to raise money for local charities (as reported in Bobble Headlines issue #8).

It's a great idea to rejuvenate bobblehead sales and bring in even more money for worthy causes in their area....

"Sales of the mini-Pradels, which retail for $27.50, benefit three local charities. To date, nearly $15,000 has been raised in the bobblehead fund-raising effort, which began when the dolls were introduced in December, shortly after the mayor earned the title of hottest suburban mayor by WTMX 101.9-FM.

Gail Andrews, owner of The Canterbury Shoppe, said she drummed up the signing event as a way to maintain interest in the dolls. Her store has sold more than 50 so far. All proceeds from the sales benefit the Heritage YMCA Strong Kids Campaign, Edward Hospital Cancer Center, and the Millennium Carillon Foundation.

Pradel said he's eager to personalize the purchases that have helped such worthwhile community causes.

'I know a lot of people have bought bobbleheads, but they're not sure where to get them signed because they can never catch up with me here,' Pradel said from his city hall office.

He's even identified the ideal spot on the doll that offers the most room to scrawl: the back."
